190th Year Celebrations

As part of our 190th Year celebrations, our 2011 Diary of Events was as follows:

1st December 2011 - The Sailors' Families' Society has now officially become the Sailors' Children's Society.  The new name and logo was unveiled by our Patron, HRH Princess Royal in the presence of some of the children we help, volunteers, staff and supporters.

2nd November 2011 - An early evening reception took place onboard the HQS Wellington in London in the presence of our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal.  There were 90 guests including supporters, trustees, volunteers and families.  It was a wonderful evening to celebrate our 190th Year.

14th October 2011 - The Sportsman's Lunch was held at the Mercure Hotel (formally known as Ramada Jarvis) and Tiff Needell (former Racing Driver) was the Speaker.  It was an excellent success and we managed to raise just over £25,000.  The main sponsor was Williamsons Solicitors and the speaker was kindly sponsored by NatWest.

11th August 2011 - The Society's Annual General Meeting took place at Blades House at 12 noon.  The meeting was attended by over 30 people.

16th June 2011 - Our Golf Am Am was held at Hull Golf Club and was kindly sponsored by Smailes Goldie and Barclays Corporate.  To see more on this event please click on our "Events Gallery" under How You Can Help.

12th June 2011 - Thank you to Alan Richards for his talks on the work of the Society at Carnegie History Centre and also for the previous Sunday.

On 10th June 2011, - "SAILORS FRIDAY" - A Fundraising fair took place at St Nicholas Primary School, Newland Estate, Cottingham Road, Hull as part of Seafarers Awareness week.  It was a very successful and entertaining day for the children, staff and parents. Our team was also involved in the day. Their kind donations will be used towards our Clothing and Educational Grants this summer.
